PURPOSE : A means capable of effectively preventing loss of earth and sand of a riverbank, an eco-friendly riverbank capable of conserving an ecosystem by enabling growth of living things, a means for easily constructing a riverbank, and a means for improving water quality are provided. CONSTITUTION : A water purifying system of a riverbank based on ecological engineering comprises : a foundation layer(100) composing the bottom of a river or lake; an inclined layer(200) which extends from an edge of the foundation layer and is formed at a ceratin elevation from the surface of water; a riverbank tetrapod(300) formed by arranging tetrapods on a surface of the inclined layer laterally and longitudinally; and a vegetation layer(400) formed along an uppermost layer of the riverbank tetrapod, wherein the vegetation layer comprises : a vegetation soil of which cross-section is formed in a circle form, and which forms a central part; Jute for covering an outer portion of the vegetation soil; and a Coir mat for surrounding an edge of the Jute. © KIPO 2006
