PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To reduce unevenness of lamp operation by limiting the use of calcium iodide in a metal-halide filling. SOLUTION : The metal-halide fill for a discharge lamp has a mixture of mercury and metal-halide salt. The mixture of the metal-halide salt contains sodium iodide of about 1 mole%-50 mole%, rare-earth material iodide of about 15 mole%-50 mole%, magnesium iodide of about 10 mole%-30 mole%, indium iodide of about 10 mole%-25 mole% and calcium iodide of about 0 mole%-25 mole%. The total quantity of the calcium iodide and the magnesium iodide in the mixture is about 20 mole%-45 mole%. The metal-halide fill of this composition is provided. COPYRIGHT : (C)2006, JPO&NCIPI
