PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide stainless steel suitable for the inner tube of an exhaust manifold exhibiting excellent scale peeling resistance in long term repeated use at 1, 000 to 1, 050°C.
SOLUTION : The ferritic stainless steel for an exhaust manifold has a composition comprising, by mass, ≤0.03% C, ≤1% Si, ≤2% Mn, ≤0.04% P, ≤0.01% S, ≤1.5% Ni, 17 to 23% Cr, ≤0.03% N, 0.05 to 0.5% Nb and 1 to 2.5% Mo, and, if required, further comprising one or more kinds of elements selected from 0.01 to 0.5% Ti, 0.01 to 0.5% Cu, 0.01 to 0.5% Al and 0.0005 to 0.01% B, and comprising rare earth metals, Y and Ca by 0.005 to 0.1% in total, or one or more elements selected from 0.05 to 0.5% V, 0.05 to 0.5% W and 0.05 to 0.5% Zr, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities, and satisfying the inequality (1) of 1≤(24-Cr)/Mo≤4.
