Disclosed is a metal oxide nanoporous body composed of two or more metal oxides selected from the group consisting of alumina, zirconia, titania, iron oxides, rare earth element oxides, alkali metal oxides and alkaline earth metal oxides. Such a metal oxide nanoporous body is characterized by having nanopores of not more than 10 nm wherein the above-described metal oxides are uniformly dispersed in a wall portion.
