PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide dielectric porcelain which has high dielectric constant, excellent stability of temperature characteristics of relative dielectric constant and small voltage dependency of insulation resistance and to provide a multilayer ceramic capacitor which has the dielectric porcelain as a dielectric layer and has excellent life characteristics under a high-temperature load test. SOLUTION : The dielectric porcelain comprises a crystal particle which has a core-shell structure and is based on barium titanate and a grain boundary phase existing among the crystal particles. Vanadium, magnesium, a rare earth element and manganese are incorporated in the crystal particle by predetermined ratios so that the Curie temperature of the crystal particle is within 80-90°C. As a result, the dielectric porcelain having high dielectric constant, excellent stability of temperature characteristics of relative dielectric constant and small voltage dependency of insulation resistance can be obtained.
